14th Annual Timberland Jubilee, October 1, 2005
The Timberland Jubilee just keeps getting better. Held the first Saturday in October of each
year, 2004's 13th Annual Jubilee attracted an estimated 6,500 people. Each year since its
inception in 1991, Clinch County's festival honoring the timber industry has grown in the
terms of crowd size and number and variety of vendors. Part of the Timberland's success is
that every year, the volunteer committee that runs the festival tweaks what the festival offers
in an effort to broaden its appeal. The Timberland Jubilee offers something for everyone.
There are plenty of attractions for kids, from pony rides to dunking booths. Adults will find
something to enjoy in all the timber related displays, arts and crafts booths, and food
vendors with a variety of local delicacies and mouth-watering treats.
Included in the Timberland Jubilee events are:
  • The Miss Timberland Jubilee pageant (16-21 yrs) represent Clinch County at the
    Georgia Forestry Pageant to be held in Tifton, GA during the summer.
  • 5K Road Race and 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk (held Saturday morning, runners from
    around the area keep coming back for the event).
  • Timber Contests (These team contests pit contestants in sawing and cutting
    competitions for prize money)
  • Timberland Cookoff (Recipes are submitted to the Cookoff Committee. Selected
    recipes are then prepared for final judging the day of the Jubilee.
  • Art contest with students from local schools participating. The top two designs are
    used on official Timberland shirts the next year.
  • Street Dance and entertainment throughout the day (The street dance, held Saturday
    night, caps off the Timberland Jubilee with several of the areas hottest bands
    performing.)
